Hello everyone, I had someone ask me why do I have to light a scene everytime before I shoot? Why not just shoot? So I decided to answer these questions in this blog. First off, the Iris of a camera is nowhere near as advanced as the human eye. The spectrum of shapes, shadows, and images our brain interprets as reality is only seen as a flat representation through the eyes of the camera. So the purpose of lighting a scene is to add depth by creating shadows and highlights. By manipulating the light in the scene you can then shape what the camera is interpreting as reality. So we start with the basic fundamental set up. 3 point lighting!
Three point lighting is self-explanatory. It's where you take three lights and place them at three different points around the subject you are trying to light.
Here is one of my setups its very basic. A rim light, key light, and a fill. Heres an article that goes more in depth on the subject.
